The first look of S S Rajamouli’s upcoming film Baahubali made a huge splash when it was unveiled on October 23, on the occasion of Prabhas’ birthday. The video went viral and the official teaser garnered more than 1.3 million views within a short time. Just days after the video was released, social media erupted with news and needless accusations that the concept of making of Baahubali teaser was copied and that it had eerie similarities with another video on Youtube.
The truth is that there are plenty of templates which can be used by anyone to create film promos, teasers. Some of these templates are free whereas most of the good templates come with a price. Baahubali’s team used one such template to create the teaser. When the news reached Shobu, one of the producers of the film, he clarified on Twitter, saying, “We purchased the rights to video template which was used in the teaser. The template fits our concept and so we LICENSED it for making teaser!(sic)” Using licensed content is a common practice which is followed by professionals and filmmakers across the world and Baahubali’s team did just that.
So far, the film has been shot for more than 50 days and the film is currently shooting in Hyderabad. S S Rajamouli is directing the film and Shobu Yarlagadda, Prasad Devineni are producing it under Arka Mediaworks banner. M M Keeravani is scoring the music and K K Senthil Kumar is the cinematographer. The film stars Prabhas, Anushka and Rana in lead roles and it’ll hit the screens in 2015.
